A number of pages have been reinforced with sheets of a translucent material (probably was clear, but yellowed). Pages 393-398 and some holes 595-600 with loss of text. A number of other pages have tears, but no other loss of text noted. Some underlining and marginal marks. First page of first volume (System of Pronunciation) bound in crookedly, with loss of text to spine edge. Original paper covers bound in, but some are missing pieces. ; Three volumes. Third volume is an index. In newer three quarter leather bindings. Two of the leather spines have patches of heavy wear. Covers have general very slight wear and very slight staining.
